Die Rhizodontida (oder Rhizodontiformes ) sind eine ausgestorbene Ordnung von Fischen mit fleischigen Gliedmaßen . Sie lebten während fast des gesamten Devon und Karbon , ungefähr zwischen –416 und –300 Ma (Millionen Jahre).
Die Ordnung von Rhizodontida beherbergt zwei Familien , Rhizodontidae und Sauripteridae , sowie basale Gattungen, einschließlich Gooloogongia und nach Angaben einiger Autoren Pycnoctenion und Propycnotenion .
Ihre Fossilien sind in Europa , den USA und Australien bekannt .
