Das Cupferron ist das Ammoniumsalz des N- Nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamins . Es ist ein übliches Reagenz bei der Komplexierung von Metallionen der Formel NH 4 [C 6 H 5 N (O) NO].. Das Anion bindet über seine Sauerstoffatome an Metallkationen und bildet 5-Atom- Chelatringe .
Cupferron wird aus Phenylhydroxylamin und einer NO + -Quelle , üblicherweise einem Alkylnitrit, hergestellt :
